Happy Nation News
ANOTHER WORD FROM ALEX RAVE MACHINE - Friday 04th April 2008
It has to be said that on Friday 14th March, London\'s most popular hardcore venue Club Factory was rocked like never before. The cause? Happy Nation 22. After attending party after party held by every promotion that has graced the Factory throughout 2007, Hardcore, Old Skool, you name it, the venue had never been so fully rammed and busy as it was for Happy Nation\’s Easter Party. It was awesome to see both arenas fully packed and rocking heavily, so much so that the stages and podiums were all brimming full-time accommodating the surplus of ravers who were literally raving their tits off! The atmospheric volume was on another planet the Factory had never really been taken to over the last year. Several ravers I spoke to on the night and overheard described it as 1 of the best nights they\’d ever been to in London.
There were seasoned London faithful attending as always supporting the London hardcore scene, but importantly many new faces to Happy Nation and London Hardcore who’d travelled from far and wide across the country to experience what was their first London rave. Wherever people came from, everyone gathered together under the unmistakably unique Happy Nation family atmosphere for an incredible night that will surely be remembered as one of the best London hardcore parties of the year. DJs & MCs all put on great sets, some their best I’ve heard, all in all keeping the whole place well packed and populated throughout the entire night until closing time. As one in attendance I can honestly say it was amazing to witness and be a part of this event along with everyone else who worked towards putting it on and all who joined the party to make it the great night it was.
Having had a chequered pattern throughout 2007, 2008 has seen the best possible start and progression of Happy Nation, which is great news for London hardcore given Happy Nation\’s constant reliability to put on the most regular hardcore party around. It continues never hyping but always delivering and doing its best under any circumstances. After the success of Happy Nation 22, it\’s undeniable that Happy Nation is an immensely important part of the London hardcore scene. It continuously proves to be the regular heartbeat of London Hardcore always guaranteeing a good frequent party regardless of any outside factors that can affect numbers. That is what Happy Nation represents and it stands true for what hardcore really means to the ravers.
Fearless of whether it\'s peak raving season or not, whether dates clash with massive events, huge weekenders, or anything. Happy Nation has never compromised its aim of putting on fun London parties every month due to fear of suffering from bigger events running at the same time, or other scene factors. That unique resilience of Happy Nation being dedicated above all to the people, the ravers, through thick and thin has clearly earned a respect and loyalty shown by all the regulars who turn up every month no matter what, and the new faces who keep the family growing. And with every HN event that comes by there is always anticipation, never a sign of boredom despite how frequent the parties are. That is tribute to an atmosphere and belief few other events would truly put their faith in.
From dancers to DJs & MCs, Happy Nation is the place that above all truly reminds everyone we are the same and that there are no boundaries. Status, hierarchy and all such factors go pushed aside to let ravers know they are as important as everyone else involved. It cannot be doubted that Happy Nation\’s loyalty to true belief in the meaning of hardcore is unique among all others. And looking at the gradual growth of the attending crowd over the hardest times to now, ravers are clearly showing an ever strengthening loyalty to hardcore which makes the London scene so much stronger and tighter knit than any other. And that loyalty carries across the London crowd that goes to every other hardcore event in the capital.
So I, on behalf of the many I spoke to and the consensus of many in attendance, would like to express major plaudits to Happy Nation on the job it\’s doing for London hardcore. For the relentless dedication to the purest cause that Happy Nation demonstrates month after month for the ravers, we salute you Happy Nation and want you to never forget that your efforts, and those of every HN performer are always appreciated by the ravers.

A WORD FROM ALEX RAVE MACHINE - Sunday 30th December 2007
I want to congratulate Happy Nation for last night and the whole of 2007. The payback party was one of the best nights ever at Happy Nation for vibe, numbers, and maintaining both until the end of the night. It was one of the best raves I've been to all year. The atmosphere was always fantastic all year but rarely more so than last night. Yes it was a free party but that is beside any point. With only 2 days until New Year from Happy Nation's party, and huge events like NEC NYE, Moondance & many others that people budgeted their hard earned savings for well in advance. People would not risk their plans getting smashed and wasting themselves on a free party they didn't feel they could trust before the most important dates of their whole year. So the free party was never a crowd guarantee. The fact that it did so well with its signature raving family atmosphere and a solid crowd quantity, always buzzing filling both arenas all the way until the last song after 7am was an immense achievement. Not a single person wanted to leave the Factory, and even those who dressed having to go earlier for their next festivities still stayed until the end, enjoying the atmosphere sharing a truly special time with people that gathered genuinely for great music and the true unique love of great raving company that Happy Nation has worked hard to build all year round.
Having been to every single London hardcore event til the finish, before and throughout 2007. Happy Nation really deserves congratulations for its hard work in Hardcore. For long periods throughout 2007 it really kept the whole of London Hardcore alive when nothing was on at all. Large chunks of this year were left completely deserted with no Hardcore parties at all. I remember the frustrations of many ravers in these times, wishing there were more hardcore events and looking forward hugely to Happy Nation. Because really for around half of 2007 (Between Easter and September) London Hardcore was being kept alive on life support regularly and pretty much solely by the regular Happy Nation events, while a few other parties countable on one-hand, came and went for 1 nights only never to be repeated. With the bigger events keeping their parties to the annual peak times of first quarter, Easter, September & December.
Happy Nation events achieved a goal that no other sought to in London. That was to create a place like the nation's tradition of the pub, to recreate a modern sanctuary for London Hardcore ravers to gather regularly and enjoy a great atmosphere among regular friends and faces to the music they love. The goal was never the hugest numbers and tremendous financial success. That is obvious in how the events were held and run, nobody ever expected everyone to come to every single event. The goal was simply to always let Hardcore ravers know they have their regular space to enjoy themselves a minimum of once a month, sometimes more. For a while that was the only thing that left a heartbeat in the entire capital at times and shows why the London crew is so tight. As a result Happy Nation actually have an identifiable crew wherever their regular ravers go. Time after time, I've witnessed MCs across all London Hardcore events give shouts to Happy Nation ravers as a recognised collective raving crew among crowds, and that is something only Happy Nation has achieved which is a testament to the success of its mission.
Yes there have been hard times in London Hardcore for many reasons. Happy Nation has seen a share of lows as well at times. But I'm writing this not as a fan of Happy Nation, and not with circumstances in the world of Hardcore that may have made a difference. I'm writing this simply as someone who seriously loves Hardcore, and tries to support every event in London and help anyone working in it in anyway I can. Simply because I love London Hardcore and believe it deserves to have the strongest hardcore scene in the country, like other forms of music in the capital. It may be a long way from having a strong scene like other places around the country, but everyone has worked really hard in 2007 in all the great London promotions. I'm glad to have made friends with and had the opportunity to help anyone along the way. Everyone deserves praise for their hard work in the year and really I'm thankful and I congratulate everyone. I'd simply like to congratulate Happy Nation as it may not often receive for achieving its own unique mission for benefit of the London Hardcore scene, as a promotion that has played its part very importantly throughout 2007 in its own right.
After the final party of 2007, it was nice to see so many happy faces from all different places and times of 2007 coming to share that event to say thank you to Happy Nation for giving the London ravers what it has throughout the year. Happy Nation gave a free party to thank us the ravers, and we happily say thank you Happy Nation, and good luck in 2008. I'm sure many of us will rave with you again throughout the next year. And the let the Hardcore beats go on and the unique family atmos spread further to many more ravers...
It's all for the good of London Hardcore, because we are all London Hardcore no matter what promotion events we attend or are a part of.
AlexXx
